Try el Velero on the Beach at Playa Blanca

At the Playa Blanca Resort, Residence and Hotel try the Velero Restaurant. Velero means sailboat. On the beach, this restaurant has nicely prepared entrees, cooked to order, not from the kitchen three hours ago. Meat is cooked to order and seafood is prepared with tasty sauces.

Playa Blanca Resort is a nice quiet place and the Velero likewise. The atmosphere is relaxed, the beach broad and not busy. This is the sort of place where you can take a long walk and forget the cares of the world. Without a lot of distraction, you look out to sea and you can imagine yourself standing there at the time of the Spanish Conquistadors. You would have seen the same view.
Try some of the Panamanian specialties at Velero. Seafood is a must as you are on the coast and all of it is as fresh as it gets. However, Panama has a five hundred year heritage of Spanish colonial influence. Although Velero and other restaurants in the area cater to tourists from all over the world, they retain the Panamanian influence in their cooking. You can get a good steak, in fact better, when you get back to Toronto, Chicago or Kansas City, but you can’t find prawns as big, juicy, and fresh as these unless you are on the coast of Panama. This area has been called the Tuna Coast because the fishing has always been great in Panama waters. In fact, the word Panama comes from a native word that means, essentially, lots of fish.
